About Us

non-profit. all breed. all volunteer. no-kill.

Canine Rescue of Central PA, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are an all-volunteer group dedicated to providing assistance to dogs in helpless situations. The organization was formed in 2002 and has made tremendous progress in establishing another valuable resource for our furry friends. It is our mission to get involved in as many situations as possible to provide shelter and new homes to as many dogs as we can.

Canine Rescue also focuses on creating strategic partnerships with other rescues and similar organizations in an attempt to share resources as well as expand public awareness of the overwhelming problem of homeless animals.

Our adoption process encompasses several steps in an attempt to ensure the best possible placement of an animal in the most appropriate home. In addition to submitting an application and spending time with a dog of interest, a home visit with the candidate is also a step in the adoption process. We require an adoption fee and the completion of an adoption agreement. Immunizations on all of our dogs are up to date. Our dogs are also heartworm/lyme disease tested and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Our volunteers walk and socialize the dogs and we also have trainers that work with some of the dogs.

NOTE: we typically do not adopt or f
oster to areas farther than one hour travel time from our rescue.

“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.”
