Her Amazing Story

Dallas Cheddar, the Dog with the Jar on Her Head - SAFE AT LAST ❤️

8/20/2025 7:24AM

After two exhausting and emotional days of searching, we are incredibly relieved to share that Dallas, the dog seen wandering with a plastic jar stuck on her head, is finally safe and receiving medical care. 🏥

Dallas was first spotted early on Monday morning by a Canine Rescue of Central PA (CRCPA) volunteer. From that moment, our team and our incredible partners at FIND TOBY in PA sprang into action, determined to bring Dallas to safety.

Volunteers searched throughout the day on Monday. More CRCPA members joined in the afternoon hours on Tuesday, operating under Find Toby’s guidance. At 10 PM, as one group wrapped up, another stepped in, along with two remarkable drone pilots whose help changed everything.

With the help of Bill Fisher from Drone Deployment Services, LLC who joined our rescue efforts late Tuesday afternoon and Dallas Fuhrman from Nighthawk Drone Services stepping in after 11pm, the team pressed on into the early morning hours. At 3 AM, Dallas (named in honor of drone pilot Dallas Fuhrman) was finally located deep in a cornfield, disoriented, exhausted, and still struggling with the jar.

Thanks to calm coordination and incredible teamwork, Dallas was safely captured and immediately rushed to Shores Veterinary Emergency Center, where Dr. Shonts and her team began treatment. We also learned at this time that Dallas is a GIRL!
Dallas is suffering from severe dehydration, is infested with ticks, and is clearly in distress. She is now receiving the urgent care she needs, and we are awaiting bloodwork to better understand her full condition.

The rescue of Dallas was only possible because of a compassionate community that refused to give up. From drone pilots to search teams to every person who kept sharing her story — Thank you!!!

Now begins the next part of her journey: healing.

If you’d like to support the emergency medical care for Dallas, estimated at $3,500, donations can be made via our DONATE page.

We’ll continue to share updates as she recovers. But for now, we celebrate a life saved and the power of people coming together for one dog who matters! Dallas is not available for adoption currently. Please do not contact Shores for any updates, all updates will be provided on our main Facebook page and we will update as often as possible!

Huge thank you to our “night owl” team and CRCPA volunteers who captured Dallas: Emily, Isabella, Tayler, and Grace! Thank you also to those who helped look for hours and hours since Monday: Roxanne, Rick, Beth, Colt, Heidi, Lida, Scott, James, Janelle, Bill & his wife with their drone efforts, Will the York County Dog Warden and our Find Toby volunteers who were on foot and coordinating from afar! We also had volunteers on standby ready to jump in and ones providing live updates from find toby: Amber, Jen, Megan, and many others from CRCPA. It was truly a team effort, and we could not have been successful without everyone involved!
